Mug Shots - Adam VanLengen
Take a peek beyond the beer you love to drink with our blog series titled, "Mug Shots." There are a lot of folks here at Boulder Beer who play a huge role in our day to day success. This is our way of introducing you to the team that makes it all happen. It’s time for you to meet our Kitchen Manager, Adam VanLengen!
Adam grew up in the “heartland of corn” in Mason City, Iowa. Once he turned 18, Adam moved away from his hometown to Ames, Iowa in hopes of exploring a new city. In 2015 he decided that Colorado was the place he wanted to be. “Corn is cool and all, but the winters in Colorado are more my speed.”
He had a few friends and family that already moved to Colorado by the time Adam arrived in our amazing state. Adam claims that “my sister moved to Colorado before I did, but it was my idea first.” Got to love having a sibling! Luckily, one of his friends that he’s known since 2nd grade was the Kitchen Manager at Boulder Beer Co and gave Adam a line cook job here at the brewery. Adam has been in and around kitchens his whole life working as a line cook, running the smoker at a BBQ joint, working in a meat processing plant, and had a brief stint as a soil sampler; that’s when he decided it was time to move to Colorado.
Family is a big part of his life, especially now that he is becoming a father to a baby boy this June! His girlfriend Krystal has a 12 year old daughter that Adam has helped raise since she was 6 and considers his step-daughter. Both Krystal and Adam are from Iowa, so they visit often – but don’t plan on moving back any time soon. Adam enjoys disc golfing, playing video games, and even walking his cat Casper on a leash! After work you’re likely to catch him drinking a Due East and chowin’ down on a Grilled Left Coast Sandwich.
Thanks Adam, for all you do! We appreciate you!
