Mug Shots: Meet John Perkins
Take a peek beyond the beer you love to drink with our blog series titled, "Mug Shots." There are a lot of folks here at Boulder Beer who play a huge role in our day to day success. This is our way of introducing you to the team that makes it all happen. It's time for you to meet our Shipping Manager, John Perkins!
Having lived most of his life in New Hampshire, John moved to sunny Colorado 8 years ago! “I wanted to enjoy more outdoor activities, like hiking and skiing, so I decided to make the move,” says John. He started working at a outdoor themed store and managed the receiving department for about 4 years. Then he worked for Left Hand Brewing for one year in the warehouse.
John recently celebrated his first year anniversary with Boulder Beer but has been a fan of the brewery for a long time. “Some of the first craft beers I remember buying when I first moved to Colorado were from Boulder Beer,” says John. Another Boulder Beer memory John has inspired him to apply for the job he has now.
John attended the Great American Beer Fest the first year he moved to Colorado in 2008, stopped by the Boulder Beer tent and scored a Singletrack poster. That and a few other brewery posters survived every move he made in Colorado, from Denver to Boulder and finally to Longmont. “I was cleaning out one of my closets one day and found my stack of brewery posters,” says John. “I saw that Singletrack poster and was curious to see what Boulder Beer was up to, so I went on their website, saw the job post for Shipping Manager and applied for it,” says John. The rest is history!
When he is not driving around the forklift or managing day to day beer needs, you can find John outside hiking and skiing or enjoying a pint of craft beer with his wife. John just got married this past June to his wife, Kristen! The two of them live in Longmont, CO with their two dogs, Tanner and Hank, and one cat named Boots.
When asked about his favorite beers, John says he usually reaches for a Shake Chocolate Porter (especially when poured on nitro) but his beer tastes change seasonally. This time of year, John can be found with a Dragonhosen Imperial Oktoberfest or a dark beer in hand!
Looking forward to 2017, John is excited to see what the pub looks like after the remodel, as well as tasting new menu items the kitchen comes up with on the new smoker.
Thanks John, for all you do! We appreciate you!
