Mug Shots: Meet Maria Fraire

Take a peek beyond the beer you love to drink with our blog series titled, "Mug Shots." There are a lot of folks here at Boulder Beer who play a huge role in our day to day success. This is our way of introducing you to the team that makes it all happen. It's time for you to meet our beloved Kitchen Staff Member, Maria Fraire!

Maria is from Fresnillo, Zacatecas in North Central Mexico. She has lived in Colorado for 15 years and working at Boulder Beer was the second job she had after making the move to the states. Maria has been working for the brewery for 11 years and in that time has made some great memories.

“Everyone calls me Mama Maria out of respect towards me and this place is like my second family,” says Maria. One of her favorite memories was last year when the brewery made a Mexican-style Ale named after her called Hola Maria. “I was passing by customers and listening to them ordering the beer by saying Maria. It made me smile. It was like they knew me and I wanted to greet them in return!” says Maria.

Looking forward to the rest of the year, Maria is most excited to see others drinking more Hola Maria (this beer was so well received last year, we decided to can it as our spring release). “I hope that Hola Maria sells well and that other people enjoy it,” says Maria. Maria’s other favorite Boulder Beer is Buffalo Gold because it reminds her of when her brother worked for the brewery and was his favorite.

When Maria is not working at Boulder Beer you can find her spending time with her family. “I am a widowed mother of five children who I love a lot. I also have four beautiful grandchildren,” says Maria. Two of Maria’s family members recently passed away and she misses them greatly. “But I share the love with my family who is still living and with the people I work with. I like my job and the people I work with are kind and understanding. Boulder Beer brings me a lot of opportunities to enjoy my life,” says Maria.

Thanks Maria, for all you do! We appreciate you!
