Mug Shots: Meet Nina Roy

Take a peek beyond the beer you love to drink with our blog series titled, "Mug Shots." There are a lot of folks here at Boulder Beer who play a huge role in our day to day success. This is our way of introducing you to the team that makes it all happen. It’s time for you to meet our lab and quality control manager, Nina Roy!

Nina is a Colorado native who grew up in Littleton with her cat named Jaeger, dog named Guinness, two older brothers, and four different exchange students (from Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Italy). She graduated from Columbine High School and double majored at the University of Colorado Boulder in molecular, cellular, developmental biology and neuroscience (class of 2016).

On graduation day Nina and her family had some time to kill in between her two graduations and decided to make their way to Boulder Beer. They arrived and signed up for the 2pm tour with Bruce Hancock. He noticed that she was all dressed up and asked what her major was and that our lab manager at the time was looking for interns. “I sent in my resume and was offered the internship position less than a week later!” Nina was an intern for about a year until she was offered her current position in April of 2017.

“I love working at Boulder Beer! It’s my favorite place I’ve ever worked.” Nina is really looking forward to the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) because last year her mom planned a family trip on the same weekend and was unable to attend. As far as Boulder Beer on Walnut goes, she thinks it will be a “great opportunity to create more fun.”

When she is not working at Boulder Beer you can find Nina doing anything outside. She loves to play soccer, go hiking and camping, play Frisbee golf (she is on a team with people from our production and brewery staff), and knit! She studied abroad in England while in college and recently went back to visit and brought all her friends knitted Colorado flag hats. One of her favorite memories from Boulder Beer was singing “It’s Raining Men” with chef and kitchen manager Logan Wolff and feeling so welcome with the Boulder Beer staff from all departments. Whether she’s hiking the backcountry or slaying karaoke you can usually catch her enjoying her “all time” favorite beer, Pulp Fusion.

Thanks Nina, for all you do! We appreciate you!
