Mug Shots - Molly McGrouty
Take a peek beyond the beer you love to drink with our blog series titled, "Mug Shots." There are a lot of folks here at Boulder Beer who play a huge role in our day to day success. This is our way of introducing you to the team that makes it all happen. It’s time for you to meet one of our servers at the Pub on Wilderness, Molly McGrouty!
Molly grew up just outside of Albany, New York in Watervliet with her 3 older siblings. She craved the hot summer (and pretty much year-round) sun of Florida and moved down the coast for school. She graduated from Flagler College with a degree in Business and Finance. Not to mention “I played college basketball for 2 years even though I’m only 5’1”.” Since her basketball career never took off she decided to move to Colorado and has been here for 5 years.
After one year of living in Colorado Molly found her family away from home at Boulder Beer. She has worked as a server for the past 4 years and temporarily left to pursue her education at Metro State in their Nursing program. With only two semesters left she’s not totally sure what sector of nursing she wants to pursue, but she loves being around and helping the elderly.
Within the next year, she is looking forward to finishing nursing school and planning a wedding! Ryan (fiancé) and Molly actually met on Molly’s first bartender shift at Boulder Beer 3 and half years ago. The proposal was two weeks ago at the top of Mt. Sanitas in Boulder. “I didn’t even want to go on the hike. I was fine just sitting in the car while my sister and Ryan did the hike.” Her sister Kaleigh finally convinced Molly to do the hike and it was well worth the early morning cardio session!
At Boulder Beer, the last name of McGrouty eventually morphed to McGrouchy and then McRowdy and finally shortened to Rowdy. This is how she came up with the name for her Rottweiler puppy – Rowdy. If you see Molly, Ryan, and Rowdy on the patio you can bet she’s drinking a Shake Chocolate Porter on Nitro and ordering either a Southern Chicken Sandwich or the Buffalo Chicken Wings.
When Molly isn’t at work or studying for school she loves skiing, camping, hiking, and hanging out with Rowdy who is now 2 and a half. She also enjoys school which is a promising sign for an up and coming nurse!
Thanks Molly, for all you do! We appreciate you!
